Obituary

Margaret Colleen Brislawn Holbrook died quietly and peacefully amidst her loving family at the Close to Home Hospice Hospitality House Monday evening, March 14, 2016, at the age of 75.

Graveside services will be at 10:30 AM on Friday, March 18, 2016 at Pine Grove Cemetery in Oshoto, WY.

Colleen was born at a neighbor's home outside of Moorcroft, near her father, Robert Brislawn's Cayuse Ranch in 1940. When she was three, her mother died, leaving a grieving father to raise, as best he could, five children.

In 1960, at 20 years of age, Colleen married the love of her life, Bob Holbrook, the eldest son of the family of wild horse runners who provided her father with many of the foundation stock for the Spanish Barb Mustang Registry.

Colleen travelled with Bob throughout the Midwest for the next 40 years. She gave birth to a daughter on the Fort Lewis Army base in Washington in 1961, during Bob's enlistment; a son at Sheridan, WY in 1964; another daughter at Grand Canyon, AZ in 1967; and her second son and last child at Vernal, UT, in 1968.

Colleen was never physically strong, she spent her entire adult life fighting not only severe asthma, but also a crippling spinal degradation that the doctors all assured her, would eventually end her life. Despite these foreboding predictions, Colleen continued to embrace her life with all of the challenges and joys that came her way.

As her and Bob's kids grew up and had children of their own, Colleen continued to be the mainstay of the entire family. She loved adamantly and unconditionally, giving this absolute gift to each of her children, regardless of generation.

When Bob died in 2001, Colleen grieved, yet never forsook the family; and as the years rolled on, as they do, she remained an integral part of everyone's' lives; meeting and holding each new member as the third generation arrived.

During the last few years, Colleen found getting around more and more difficult, but she did not give up on watching out for her beloved family, often calling everyone throughout the day to talk and confirm to her satisfaction that all of the kids were alright. At the end of each call, Colleen would "kiss" as the call ended.

At the end of Colleen's life, this family of whom she was always so proud was, in turn, proud to fill the room; hold her hands and bid her goodbye with a kiss.

Colleen is survived by her sister, Dipper Brunson of Aladdin, brothers, Neil Brislawn of Moorcroft and Shane Brislawn of Alaska; as well as her children, Grace Moore, Cody and Annie Holbrook, Evelyn Holbrook and Mark Holbrook, all of Moorcroft; her grandchildren, Joshua Osborne, Valerie and Megan Holbrook, Mary Jo Holbrook, Quinten Campbell, Hannah Holbrook and April Rain Holbrook-Goodsell and Cameo and Caressa Holbrook; and her great-grandchildren, Amethyst Holbrook, Kai Shane Lee Campbell and Dante JLE Holbrook-Marchitelli.

"Kisses" Mom.
