Obituary

Tommie Marceline Cliver, nee Blankenship, 91 of Sundance, Wyoming, died peacefully October 11, 2016 with her husband holding her hand.

Marceline was born December 1, 1924 to Hiram and Maude Blankenship in Pocahontas, Arkansas. She entered school there and finished in St. Louis, Missouri after her family moved. While in St. Louis she met her future husband, Stanley Cliver. They were married on December 24, 1943 in Lubbock, Texas prior to him going off to war in Europe. Upon his return they moved back to St. Louis until 1977, when they moved to Sundance. Marceline received her BA from Black Hills State University in Spearfish, South Dakota. She used her degree to teach in Crook and Weston Counties for many years. She truly enjoyed being with the children. Over the years she was active in several organizations, including all offices of the Order of Eastern Star and becoming Worthy Grand Matron of the State of Wyoming from 1992-1993. Other organizations that she was active in were Green Mountain Estates, Beta Sigma Phi and Daughters of the King, just to name a few. Marcie and Stan were married for 71 years.

She is survived by her husband, Stanley Cliver, their sons, Greg Cliver of Brainerd, MN and Keith Cliver of Cortez, CO, daughter, Marcia and husband, Dan Blakeman of Bedford, NH, five grandchildren; Kendra, Kelsey, Karlie, Matthew and Madison, two great-grandchildren, Hagan and Kaia.

Marcie was preceded in death by her sister, Bernice Thompson and son, Noel Cliver.

Memorial services were held at Church of the Good Shepherd Episcopal in Sundance on Tuesday, October 18, 2016. She was inurned at Black Hills National Cemetery, near Sturgis, South Dakota.

The family would like to thank all those who gave and continue to give love and care to Marcie and Stan. Memorial contributions may be made to benefit Cathedral Home for Children in Laramie, Wyoming.
