Obituary

Marc Douglas Calvert, loving father, caring brother and devoted son, passed away on May 17, 2022, surrounded by his family at Monument Health Rapid City Hospital.

Marc was born on June 2, 1972, to his delighted parents, Clint and Martha Calvert, at Spearfish Hospital in South Dakota.  He spent most of his youth growing up in Pueblo, Colorado and graduated from East High School in 1990.  He spent many of those summers camping, fishing and hiking with his parents and his brother, Craig Calvert.  During the winter months, he loved skiing the Colorado Rockies with his friends and family.

Marc grew up in the Lutheran Church and one of his fondest places was Rainbow Trail Lutheran Camp, in Westcliff, Colorado.  He spent a week each summer camping, hiking and worshipping with his friends and his brother.  Marc met his wife, Dianna Tessin of Omaha, Nebraska, at Rainbow Trail and they were married there in June of 1992.

After graduating high school, Marc attended the University of New Mexico where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Architecture.  After college, Marc and Dianna move to Pueblo Colorado to start their careers and their family.  Marc has three wonderful daughters.  Madelyn Calvert was born in June of 1998; Leah Calvert was born in July of 2000 and Grace Calvert was born in August of 2002.  He loved those girls with every ounce of his being.

It was also during this time that Marc was diagnosed with Myotonic Muscular Dystrophy, which is a genetic disorder that affects the muscles of the body.  It slowed him down, and prevented him from doing some things, but he still enjoyed spending time with his daughters and family.  He continued to camp and fish and even enjoyed a craft beer from time to time.  Marc had a great sense of humor and the Calvert trait of sarcasm, even while dealing with his worsening condition.

Marc is survived by his parents, Clint and Martha Calvert, of Spearfish, SD; his brother and sister-in-law, Craig and Ona Calvert, of Edgewood NM; and his three daughters, Madelyn (Maddie) Calvert, of Lincoln NE; Leah Calvert, of Omaha, NE; and Grace Calvert, of Omaha NE.

Marc's memorial service/celebration of life has not yet been scheduled.  An invitation will be sent, by his family, when a date and time has been arranged.
