Obituary

Lyle Ainsworth, 92, died peacefully at Ft. Meade Medical Center on Saturday, June 15, 2013. Born at Deadwood Hospital on August 2, 1920, Lyle's early years were spent on ranches close to Broadus, MT. His father died when Lyle was seven years old. Upon his father's death, the family moved to Spearfish, where he attended public school.

Lyle married Garnette A. Bell in 1938. From this union came four sons.

He served in the Navy during WWII aboard a destroyer in the South Pacific. After the war, he started Ainsworth Construction Company, a successful enterprise that continues today under the ownership and expertise of Jim Benning. He was a builder: a builder of homes, a builder of friends, and builder of men. He built things well.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 75 years, Garnette; brother John Stanley (Joan) of Payson, AZ; sons Jerry (Sonia) of Spearfish, Stan (Patty) of Pierre, and Lincoln (Elaine) of Piedmont; grandchildren Layne, Mistie, Kimberly, Dale, Lisa, Wendy, Todd, Tracy, Jennifer, Becky, John, Jessica and Suzette; great-grandchildren Phoebe, Sophia, Harry, Walter, Christopher, Alex, Amanda, Alton, Mallory, Dalton, Abbey, Aden, Kaitlin, Haley, Spencer, Alllie, Kelsey, Maddison, Chase, Riley, Logan, Taylor, Devyn, Khanh, Mason and Leah.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, a brother - Lydston, and his son - Donald Dale.

A military funeral honors ceremony will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, SD.
