Lyla M. Dupree, 79 of Deadwood, SD passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at her home in Deadwood.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, June 3, 2011 at the Lead-Deadwood Memorial Chapel in Lead, SD. Burial will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, SD.

Lyla was born November 14, 1931 to Halvor and Thea (Hier) Brosdahl in Karlstad, MN. She married William "Bill" Dupree on December 31, 1950 in Rapid City, SD. The couple later moved to Deadwood where they owned and operated the Gold Bar from 1963 to 1977, Lyla also worked at Montgomery Wards as a clerk in Deadwood during that time. Following the sale of the bar they moved to Black Hawk, SD and Lyla continued to work for Montgomery Wards at the Rapid City store until her retirement in1985. Lyla returned to Deadwood in 1989.
Survivors include her son, Bill (Cathy) Dupree of North Platte, NE, two brothers, Clifford (Mildred) Brosdahl of Roseau, MN and Wendell (Lois) Brosdahl of Minneapolis, MN, sister, Deloris Cutt of Minneapolis, MN and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bill in 1985, son Richard in 1959 and six brothers and four sisters.
