Lucille R. Lutz, 89 of Spearfish, passed away on January 6, 2017 at Sandstone Manor in Spearfish.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at United Methodist Church in Spearfish.

Lucille Ruth Merriman was born March 21, 1927 in Lemmon, SD to Arthur and Edith (Thorpe) Merriman. She married Adolph Lutz on March 5, 1945 in Bison, SD. Following Adolph's discharge from the armed services the couple settled on his parent's farm in the White Butte area, where they began a family, to this union seven children were born: Bev, Les, Linda, Jannet, Rita, Robert and Scott. The couple lived in various places around the Shadehill area before buying a farm near Meadow, SD. They moved to Spearfish in 1968, where she resided until her passing. Lucille loved her crafts, gardening and she could make a meal out of nothing. She enjoyed dancing, decorating for the holidays, helping her neighbors and volunteering at the Artemis House. She also housed bikers during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She worked at the Dorsett Home and also cared for children and adults in her home.

Lucille is survived by her children, Bev (Ernie) Clark, Les Lutz, Linda (Doug) Stratton, Jannet Lutz, Rita (Bernard) Zastrow and Robert (Connie) Lutz; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; siblings, Donald (Frances) Merriman, Roger (Helen) Merriman, Marvelyn Bratton and Elizabeth (Dale) Wacker and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Adolph; brothers, Russell and Glen and son, Scott Lutz.

Arrangements are under the care of Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapels and Crematory Service of Spearfish.
