Lucene "Ceny" Carsten, 83 of Lead, SD passed away peacefully on March 9, 2016 at Rapid City Regional Hospital surrounded by her family.

Lucene "Ceny" May Carsten was born in Alexandria, SD on August 9, 1932. She graduated from high school there and went on to nurses training in Pierre, SD. At nurse's training she met the love of her life, Frank Carsten. In 1956, they moved to Lead from Milboro, SD where Frank went to work for the Homestake Mining Company. Together Ceny and Frank had six children, Victoria (Terry)Barrett of Clearfield, Utah, Randy (Carletta) Carsten of Helena, Montana, Tom (Narcell) Carsten of Rapid City, Charlene (Mike) Maynard of Sturgis, Julie (Reg) Mack of Lead, and Dan (Joyce) Carsten of Lead; 11 grandchildren, Nathan, Ryan, Stephanie, Staci, Dustin, Derek, Jake, Tiffany, Matthew, Ashley, Michael and 11 ½ great-grandchildren.

Memorial Mass for Ceny will be at 10:00 AM on April 1, 2016 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Lead beginning with a Rosary service at 9:00 AM. Burial will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery. A memorial has been established to benefit St. Patrick Catholic Church.
