Obituary

Lowell "Pete" David Rose, 89 of Spearfish died Sunday, April 13, 2014.

Pete was born October 21, 1924 to James C. Rose and Ida Mae Northern in Bluffton, Missouri. He graduated from high school in Lincoln, NE. Pete enlisted in the United States Marines in 1943 and was honorably discharged in 1946. He married Leona Bruntz on April 6, 1948 in Torrington, WY. The couple moved to Lead, South Dakota in 1950, where Pete started working for Homestake Mining Company, while working at Homestake they lived in Lead, Spearfish, Whitewood and Sturgis. Pete also owned and operated Pete's Shoe Repair in Spearfish and Sturgis in the 1970's. Following Pete's retirement in 1983 the couple moved to Rapid City, before returning to Spearfish in 2001. Pete enjoyed fishing with family and friends and also reading.

Pete is survived by his children; Jerry Rose of Nisland, SD, Sharon Rose of Belle Fourche, SD, Judy Schaefer of Gillette, WY and Ruth Pawlowski of Belle Fourche, SD many grand and great-grandchildren and one sister, Shirley Plaster of Nebraska.

He was preceded in death by his wife Leona in March of 2014 and son David in 1982.

Graveside services for Pete and his wife Leona will be at 1:00pm, Monday, April 21, 2014 at Black Hills National Cemetery.
