Lonnie "Mike" Spaulding, 65, Spearfish, SD died Friday, July 6, 2012 at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, July 12, 2012 Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, with burial to follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Deadwood.


Mike was born on June 20, 1947 to Harold and Betty (Goss) Spaulding in Deadwood, SD. He enlisted in the US Army in 1968 and was honorable discharged in 1970. He later retired from the US Postal and always enjoyed life to its fullest. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling where ever he could go. He had a love for history which he shared with his father and grandchildren, and was always teasing and joking around with anyone that crossed his path.

Survivors include his daughters, Christina (Alvin) La Combe, Belle Fourche, SD and Brooke (Bud) Van Norman, Casper, WY; grandchildren Shaila and Clarissa Davidson, Riley Henning, Ashlynn LaCombe, Brittany Spaulding and Brice Van Norman; great-grandchildren, Kareena Watters and Aleayha Collins; sisters, Cindy (Forrest) Capps and Candy (Jim) Kelsey, all of Denver, Colorado. He was preceded in death by his parents.
