Obituary

Lola Irene Pascoe, 93 of Spearfish SD, passed away on July 22, 2024 at Monument Health Spearfish Hospital.

Lola was born in Faith, SD on October 19, 1930.  She was raised on a family farm north of Newell SD. Her parents, Edward and Theresa Janke had six daughters of which Lola was the youngest. After high school she received a teaching certificate from Black Hills State College and taught 2nd grade in Belle Fourche for several years. In June of 1949 she married Kenneth Pascoe of Spearfish.  They were married for 74 years.  Much of that time was spent on the farm west of Spearfish. For about 20 of those years they ran a dairy and in that stretch of time only spent two nights away from the farm.

In 1989 they sold the farm house and moved to a house in Spearfish, where they lived until they moved to Edgewood Vista in 2021. Although they didn't know it at the time the person they sold the farm house to became their guardian angel. Lowell Wattier aka "Butch" watched over them for many years.  Mom always had a report of what Lowell had done for them whether it was mowing, shoveling, filling bird feeders, or driving them to the store or emergency room.

Lola and her sisters remained very close throughout the years.  There were many card games, camping trips, and family gatherings. Lola enjoyed gardening.  Whether on the farm or in town she always had a large vegetable garden. People will always remember her raspberry patch and all the jelly she made. In the early days she enjoyed square dancing and later on she was line dancing until she was almost 90. She was active in the Spearfish United Methodist church and taught Sunday School for many years.

She is survived by her son, Mike (Janice) of Rochester MN, grandson Alex, sister Betty, Dahlberg of The Dalles, OR, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth, sisters; Elvera Minty, Norine Carswell, Alma Laumer, and Marion Winkler.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be held Friday, August 30th, 11AM, at the United Methodist Church in Spearfish. Visitation will begin at 10AM. Lunch will immediately follow the service at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the United Methodist Church of Spearfish.

Arrangements are under the care of Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapels & Isburg Crematory of Spearfish.
