The Lord fulfilled his promise to Lois Heinis, 88 of Spearfish on Monday, June 8, 2015.
She was born on December 30, 1926 to L.G. and Doris Harris at their home in Polo Alto County, Iowa.
She met LeRoy Heinis and the couple was married on January 3, 1945 in Marshall, MN. They farmed a few miles northwest of Lynd, MN. In 1956, they quit farming due to no farms to rent unless you had a relative who was going to quite farming. They had five children, Steven Ronald and Donald (twins), Douglas and Robert. She worked for the Gamble Store for several years and then for the Mental Health Center in Marshall until they moved to Sioux Falls, SD.
She worked for the National Air Guard for several years. They then moved to the Black Hills when she got a job with the Forest Service in Spearfish, SD.
In 1980, they moved to Quincy, CA still with the Forest Service and in 1984 she transferred to Conroe, TX and retired in 1989. After remodeling their home in Spearfish she started clogging in 1989. She took over the teaching position when the instructor passed away. She continued teaching clogging until January 2010.
She participated in Cub Scouts when the boys were young. She also enjoyed bowling with her husband for many years. They bowled in Spearfish, Quincy and Conroe and again in Spearfish after she retired.
She is survived by her sons, Steven (Joyce) Heinis, Ronald (Diane) Heinis, Donald (Tina) Heinis, Douglas (Linda) Heinis and Robert Heinis; 13 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; sister, June Hatfield and brother-in-law, Glen Klante. She was preceded in death by her parents, L.G. and Doris Harris; husband, LeRoy "Bob" Heinis and siblings, Betty Zvorak, Jessica Blakey, Ruth Cyr, Joyce Klante and James Jim" Harris.
A Rosary service will be at 1:00 PM on Sunday, June 14, 2015 at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish with visitation following until 3:00 PM. Memorial services will be at 11:00 AM on Monday, June 15, 2015 at St Joseph Catholic Church in Spearfish. Inurnment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.
