Obituary
Lois Fitzgerald-Doran, 87, of Spearfish, passed away Saturday, January 10, 2015 surrounded by family, love and prayers near and far.
Lois was born to the late Russell and Rose Smith January 7, 1928 at Mitchell, South Dakota. Russell later moved his family to Spearfish, SD where Lois attended and graduated from high school in 1946. She married the late Maurice R. Fitzgerald on August 25, 1947. After his untimely death in July 1977 she went on to marry John P. Doran of Sturgis, SD in March of 1980. John passed away in December of 2009. She was also preceded in death by sister, Ann Graslie and brothers-in-law, Louie Graslie and George Acri.
Lois was an active member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, a Spearfish supporter, a wonderful mother and beloved sister. On any given weekend you could find her at a sporting event, playing cards or attending church. Lois passed on her love of the outdoors, flowers, dancing along with the love of life to all those she met.
Lois loved her family and will be missed by her children and their families, her son, Tom of Hawthorne, NV, granddaughter, Courtney of Reno, NV; daughter, Susan of Spearfish, SD, grandsons, Alex (Dana) Weber, of Spearfish, SD and Jacob McCright of Asheville NC; son, Jim of Hawthorne, NV, grandson, Beau (Mary) of Fallon NV, granddaughters, Jenny (George) of Sioux Falls, SD and Becky (Marvin) of Norfolk, VI; son, John (Yvette) of Hot Springs, SD, granddaughter, Ginette of Austin, TX; and son, Mark of Rockport, TX; she is also survived by her sisters and brothers-in-law; Glenn and Jane Hogan, Ed and Mary Furois and Carol Acri all of Spearfish and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 5-7 pm, Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish, with a Vigil and Rosary service to follow at 7:00 pm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be offered for Lois at 10:00 am, Thursday, January 15, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Spearfish. Inurnment will take place at Black Hills National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to benefit Hospice of the Northern Hills.
