Obituary

Linda Kay Gropper Miller, 63 of Spearfish, SD, formerly of Kadoka, SD, entered into the arms of the Lord on December 9, 2010.

The youngest addition, Linda Kay Gropper Miller, joined her siblings, Elsie Roanna (Borbely) Johnson and Richard "Dick" Parley Borbely on August 11, 1947, in Kadoka, to Mike and Mary Elsie (Porch) Borberly.

In September 1967, Linda married William Gropper at the Kadoka Presbyterian Church. Initially, they lived in Spearfish while attending Black Hills State College. On February 28, 1968, they were blessed with the birth of their daughter, Lesa Dawn Gropper-Krajewski. After a series of relocations, they resettled in Spearfish where Lesa attended and graduated from the Spearfish school district.

Since time was taken off to raise Lesa, Linda returned to BHSU in 1988 after her divorce to complete her degree in business. While attending the university, she met her second husband, Jerry Dean Miller. Linda and Jerry were united in marriage in the Spearfish City Park.

Well-known for her contributions to the community, Linda enjoyed interacting with people as the manager of Cedar House Restaurant, Northern Hills Cinema, and Northern Hills Video. Later, she elected to interact with youth as a substitute teacher.

After twenty years of devoted love, Linda lost Jerry to cancer in 2008. Time spent taking long walks and engaging in deep, meaningful talks with her caring neighbor and friend, Kris Ruff, helped Linda get through the loss of Jerry. Spending the next two years spoiling her grandson, Daniel William Krajewski, rotten, Linda engendered a sense of enthusiasm and God's deep abiding love to everyone around her. She also enjoyed her church, Calvary Temple, her close friends, and extended family.

In addition to the love Linda showered on Lesa, son-in-law, Greg, Daniel brought immeasurable joy to Linda over the past five years. She always said that "Daniel [was] the love of [her] life."

Family and friends knew Linda for her energetic personality, love of roller skating, long walks, and profoundly insightful knowledge of Our Heavenly Father.

Linda's homemade creamy and decadent macaroni and cheese was one of the greatest holiday crowd pleasers. During the holidays, she was known to decorate the house and yard from top to bottom, especially during Christmas when red, Linda's favorite color, featured strongly in the ornaments and adornments.

Unfortunately, during the Christmas season of 2009, Linda was diagnosed with cancer, which she bravely and vigilantly battled over the past twelve months with the loving care of her nieces, Debbie (Johnson) Richards, and Becky Johnson whenever they were able to fly up from Colorado. Linda's sister, Elsie, was also a great source of comfort and strength to Linda as they talked daily. Friends and neighbors contributed to Linda's care and security by driving her to treatments, providing meals, and stopping by to spend time. The many wonderful family members and friends enriched Linda's life immeasurably.

Linda led a multifaceted life, leaving a lasting legacy in her daughter, son-in-law, and grandson in addition to the multitude of lives she touched.
