Lillian "Lil" Ruzick, 92 of Belle Fourche, formerly of Lead and Spearfish died Saturday, March 12, 2011 at Belle Fourche Regional Senior Care.
Lil was born November 23, 1918 to Ole and Martina (Bentsen) Thoraldson at Norristown, PA. She attended Upper Marian High School graduating in 1936. Lil married Walter Ruzick, Jr. on December 2, 1944 at Toms River, NJ.
She worked various jobs during her lifetime including a waitress at the Pocono Mountain Resort, telephone operator for Bell Telephone, a sales person at the Lakehurst Naval Air Station PX, and after moving to Lead, South Dakota with Walter she worked part-time at the family grocery business, Ruzick's Market. Lil was a longtime Black Hills resident having lived in Lead, Spearfish and Belle Fourche. She loved golfing, bridge, bowling, sewing and crafts. She was also a member of the Ladies Guild at Christ Episcopal Church in Lead and a member of the Lead Country Club.
Lil is survived by her son Walter (Rebecca) Ruzick III, Eagan, MN, two granddaughters, Heather Ruzick, Savage, MN, and Amy Ruzick, St. Paul, MN, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Lil was preceded in death by her parents, husband Walter, two sisters Marion Brennan, Norma Dougherty, two brothers Harold Thoraldson, and Richard Thoraldson.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, March 17, 2011 at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish. Burial will take place at Black Hills National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home on Thursday.
