Obituary

Lillian Christenson Larive Derosier, 80 of St. Onge, SD, peacefully went to be in the arms of the Lord with family by her side on June 7, 2012.

Memorial service will be at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, June 11, 2012 at the United Church of Christ in St. Onge. Inurnment will follow at the Sunset Cemetery in St. Onge. A memorial has been established to the St. Onge United Church of Christ and Hospice of the Northern Hills.

Lillian was born to George and Maita (Anderson) Christenson in an old shack on July 2, 1931 in Sundance, Wyoming. Her father passed away when she was six years old. Maita married Ralph Larive in 1941 and relocated her family to St. Onge. Lillian attended school one year in Sundance and completed her schooling in St. Onge completing the 8th grade. She married Leo "Buddo" Derosier on Grandpa's birthday on January 9, 1954. To their union they were blessed with four children; George Leo, Mary Iona, Linda Louise, and Beverly Ann. She worked in the St. Onge Sale Barn Café for four years.

Grandma spent much of her life working side by side with Grandpa working in the fields, milking cows, and cleaning oil and grease off Grandpa, the kids and grandkids. Lillian was an active member of 4-H, Extension Club, Butte-Lawrence County Fair, Garden Club, Women's Fellowship, Community Club, St. Onge Emergency Committee and St. Onge United Church of Christ. She loved to sew, work in the yard, plant flowers, and tinker in the wood shop. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy.

Blessed to have shared in her life are her daughters; Mary (Kenny) Williams, of St. Onge, Linda (Troy) Gortmaker, of Rapid City and Beverly (Wade) Montgomery, of St. Onge; nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; brothers, Nels (Kay) Larive, of Sturgis, SD, George Larive, of Evanston, WY and Albert (Janet) Larive, of Enning, SD and sisters, Alberta Nelson, of Newell, SD and Violet Erk, of Vale, SD. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo; son, George; mother, Maita; and fathers, Ralph and George.
