Obituary

Leonard D. Adams, 76, from Deadwood, SD, formerly from Calumet City and Lansing, IL, died peacefully on Monday, April 29, 2024, at Spearfish Canyon Healthcare and Rehab in Spearfish, SD.

Len was born July 8, 1947 in Chicago, Il to Len and Dorothy Adams.  He went to Our Lady of Knock elementary school, and attended Marion Catholic High School. After graduating, in 1965, he entered the Army in 1966, and was honorably discharged on September 11, 1968. He attended Thornton Community College until 1972, and then started as a Computer Operator rising to Programmer/Analyst at Republic Steel. After Republic Steel merged with LTV Steel, he became a CICS Systems Programmer. When the steel company shut down, he went to CNA Insurance as a CICS Systems Programmer, and retired 5 days prior to his 50th birthday.

Len was a lifetime Chicago Cubs and Bears fan. He loved Classic Rock music. He was a skilled athlete in his youth. Later, his interests turned towards politics. After he retired he became an avid Wood Worker.

Len is survived by his wife Sharon Regan of 43 years, daughters Christy Adams and Tricia (Ernie)  Triplett, brother Tom Adams (Risa), grandchildren Brody and Bridger Triplett, uncle to Kim (Joe) Bergen and Tom W. Adams (Jennifer), great nephews Noah and Caleb Adams, Aunt Irene Matulevicz, cousins Teri (Vince) Grout, Jim Matulevicz (Linda) plus their daughter Lisa, and Roger Matulevicz (Monica).

Preceded in death by Mother and Father Len and Dorothy Adams, Grandparents Adolph and Bernice Matulevicz, Uncle Ray Matulevicz and Aunt Ann Matule (aka Aunt Babe), and former wife Janice Georgevich Adams.

Cremation service are being handled by Fidler-Isburg Funeral Home in Spearfish. If you wish to celebrate his life, in lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity or a Veteran's support organization in his memory.
