Obituary

Leah Lorraine Ballou, 78, of Hulett, Wyoming passed away peacefully, with family by her side, on March 1, 2021 at Rolling Hills Healthcare in Belle Fourche, South Dakota.

Leah was born to parents Lee and Evelyn Shepherd on April 12, 1942 in Lusk, WY and spent most of her childhood years growing up on ranches in Harrison, Nebraska, Van Tassell and Lingle, Wyoming.  Leah graduated from Lusk High School in 1960 and went on to attend Casper College from 1960-1962.

Leah married Wayne Ballou on January 25, 1964 and they resided in Hulett, Wyoming for 57 years.  To this union two children were born, Cody in 1968 and Kristy in 1972.  In 1990 Leah decided to return to college in Torrington, Wyoming and received her Associate degree in order to substitute teach in the Hulett School system.

Leah was a member of the Buttons & Bows, Women's Club and the First Baptist Church.  Leah enjoyed spending quality time with family and friends.  She also enjoyed being outside gardening, working in her flower beds and canning fruits and vegetables.  She was passionate about her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Leah is survived by her husband Wayne, son Cody (Suzie), Hulett, WY, daughter Kristy, Thornton, CO, granddaughters; Allison Fedora (Stephen), Belle Fourche, SD and Megan Rios, Thornton, CO, great grandchildren, Adylynn and Stephen Fedora, sister in laws, brother in laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Leah was preceeded in death by her father, Lee Shepherd, Harrison, NE, mother, Evelyn Robertson, step-father, Warren Robertson, Lusk, WY, sister, Kay Holmes, Van-Tassell, WY and brother, Clyde Robertson, Lingle, WY.

Services are being held at the Greater Hulett Community Center 401 Sager Avenue Hulett, WY 82720 at 11 am on Monday, March 8, 2021.  Pastor Jim Palus, First Baptist Church, will be officiating with interment immediately following at the Hulett cemetery.  Lunch will be provided by the First Baptist Church.
