Lavern Gene Foerster, 61 of Lead passed away August 6, 2015 at Golden Living Center in Mobridge, SD.
Funeral services will be at 1:00pm, Tuesday, August 11 at the Lead-Deadwood Memorial Chapel in Lead, with burial to follow at Mountain Lawn Cemetery near Lead.
Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service.
Lavern was born in Jamestown, ND on November 7, 1953 to Loretta (Veil) Sandau and Leroy Foerster. Lavern was a very outgoing and hardworking man, he was known for his feistiness and great sense of humor. In his free time he loved to hunt, snowmobile and spend time with his family and friends.
Vern served in the U.S. Navy from 1971-1976, following his honorable discharge he returned to Lead and starting working at Homestake Gold Mine.
Lavern is survived by his wife Luana of Lead, three daughters; Amber (Damon) Morris of Fruita, CO, April (fiancé Matthew Ruff) Foerster of Sturgis and Amie Foerster of Lead, two sisters, Pam (Dave) Kaufman of Elkton, FL and Lisa (Mark) Schlenker of Fargo, ND, six grandchildren; Courtney and Matthew Morris, Vincent and Gabriell Ruff and Ethan and Mia Foerster and many nieces and nephews.
Lavern was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Bruce.
