Obituary

Lauren Clark Hill, 64 of Spearfish, died peacefully in her sleep on June 18, 2013 at the Belle Fourche HealthCare Center in Belle Fourche, SD.

She was born April 20, 1949 in Harvey, IL and grew-up in Homewood, IL. She graduated from Homewood Flossmoor High School in 1967. After high school she attended University of South Dakota in Vermillion where she received a degree in education in 1971.

Lauren married Thomas Hill in 1972 in Flossmoor, IL and to this union produced the best birthday present ever, her daughter Amber was born on April 21, 1977. Because of Thomas' military career they lived all over the United States and Europe. She was divorced in 2003, and she moved to Spearfish with her dog Abbey.

Lauren was a teacher and loved working with children. She had a gift of working in special education and was extremely patient and kind. She loved to sing in the choir and praise and worship band at United Methodist Church. She enjoyed traveling, reading, watching movies, and walking her dog Abbey. She loved spending time with her daughter Amber and son-in-law Travis and her two grand dogs Zoe and Clifford.

Lauren is survived by her daughter, Amber (Travis) Buttemeier of Baltic, SD; parents, Clare and Bob Clark of Hendersonville, NC; Aunt Kay Kellam, Homewood, IL; brothers, Tom (Ivone) Clark of Hendersonville, NC, Page (Kim) Clark Aurora, IL and Jim (Jill) Clark of Oregon, Abbey (dog), and her grand dogs Zoe & Clifford.

Celebration of life will be at 2:30 P.M. on June 22, 2013 at the United Methodist Church in Spearfish. A memorial has been established to the United Methodist Church in Spearfish. Lauren requested that everyone dress in casual clothing for the service.
