Lannie O. Varns, 43, Gig Harbor, WA formerly of Lead, SD died Friday February 20, 2015.
Lannie was born on April 6, 1971 in Deadwood, SD to Gary and Roberta Varns. He graduated from Lead High School in 1989 and joined the Navy in July of that year. He served nine years on submarines for the Navy and worked Top Security Clearance in Seattle, WA for the Naval Base working on Nuclear Subs.
Survivors include his mother, Roberta Odson, Lead; brothers, Terry (Dixie) Varns, Lead, Ed (Ellen) Odson, David "Buck" Odson, both of Gillette; sisters, Tanya (Jeff) Ekeren, Custer, Cindy (Brent) Vinderslev, Rapid City; nieces and nephews, Steven Varns, Tucker Varns, Samanta Ekeren, Chase Ekeren, Hunter Ekeren, Zekes Odson, Morgan Odson, Wyatt Vinderslev, Valerie Vinderslev, Paul Vinderslev and Tony Vinderslev; cousin, Lindsey Schmit, Spearfish and grandmother, Betty Varns, Spearfish.
Memorial services will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, February 27, 2015 at the Lead-Deadwood Memorial Chapel in Lead with a reception to follow at the VFW in Deadwood at 11:30 AM. Inurnment will take place in Custer at a later time.
Arrangements are under the care of Lead-Deadwood Memorial Chapel of Lead.
