Kurtis G. Schmidt, 52, Spearfish, SD died Thursday, June 11, 2015 at his father's home in Spearfish.
Memorial Services for Kurtis will be at 10 AM, Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish.
Kurtis was born July 16, 1962 to Franklin Schmidt and Jane (Schmit) Mattson in Webster, SD. The family later moved to Spearfish, where he attended school. After school Kurtis joined the South Dakota Army National Guard. He also worked in the oil fields and then was a logger in the timber industry until he suffered a debilitating injury. He had been married to Dawn Pagel for 12 years.
Survivors include his father, Franklin Schmidt, Spearfish; mother, Jane Mattson, Spearfish; brothers, Kelly Schmidt, Spearfish, Kerry (Mary) Schmidt, Rapid City and sister, Kristi Schmidt, Denver, CO.
