Kurt Hosselkus, 61, of Spearfish passed away February 24, 2015.
Kurt was born in Del Norte, CO to Allen and Margie Hosselkus on October 23, 1953. Kurt lived in Creede, CO before moving to Spearfish in 1988 with his family. He worked for Homestake from 1971 until 1998, and then went to work at M&M Sanitation until his death.
Kurt's wry sense of humor & knack for telling it like it is was his most endearing qualities. In his early years, he was an avid outdoorsman. He traversed the mountain ranges of southern Colorado with his nephew and best friend, Richard Kolisch, ever in search of the biggest bull elk anyone had ever seen or trying to catch the biggest rainbow trout in those high mountain streams. Later in his life, Kurt enjoyed tinkering in his shop, working on wood crafts and other random projects. The man could literally fix anything.
His greatest joy in life was his family. He is survived by his wife, Jennie Kay; his two sons and their families, Ted, Chauntee, Skyla & Maggie, and Todd, Erica, Ashtyn & Carter; eight brothers, three sisters, numerous nephews, nieces & many wonderful friends. He is preceded in death by his father, mother and four siblings. We will all miss him very much.
Per Kurt's wishes, services will be limited to family at a time yet to be determined.
