Kristin Hoff, 34, of Spearfish, died peacefully in her sleep with her parents at her side on Monday, August 10, 2015, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.
Kristin was born on December 6, 1980, in Grand Junction, CO to Glen and Mickey Hoff.
Kristin has always had a love for the outdoor wonders and all genres of music. She spent her childhood making her own adventures, building tree houses, roller skating, playing softball, and singing karaoke.
She graduated from Bishop Heelan High School in Sioux City, IA in 1999. Kristin continued her education at Black Hills State University in Spearfish, SD and completed her bachelor's degree in Political Science and History at the University of New Mexico; Albuquerque, NM. Kristin moved to San Diego, CA and worked for an investment firm for several years. Shortly after, she realized her passion for teaching. She returned to the Hills in 2012 to obtain her teacher's certificate and had recently been hired in Oelrichs, SD. Kristin was looking forward to fulfilling her dream of working with Native American children and continuing to make the world a better place.
She spent her time in the Hills with her family and making many lifelong friends. She carried on her love for adventure in the Great Outdoors; kayaking, camping, and singing songs by the fire. She loved being in the presence of children, as they equally enjoyed her lust for laughter, learning, and friendships.
Kristin's survivors include parents, Glen and Mickey Hoff of Spearfish; siblings, Kendra Taylor (Lee), Aaron Hoff (Cindy Hyatt), Ashleigh Hoff (Jesse Tetreault); nieces, Holiday, Hayley, and Isabele Robley and nephew, Charles Taylor.
Kristin's zest for life and others' happiness will eternally be imprinted on those who knew her. A daughter, a sister, an aunt, a teacher, and an irreplaceable friend to countless souls. Her love and energy for life will always be cherished and missed.
Vigil and Rosary services will be held at 7:00pm, Thursday, August 13, 2015 at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish.
Mass of Christian burial will take place at 10:00am, Friday, August 14 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Spearfish, inurnment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.
