We are heartbroken to announce that Kitty Lee (Goodwin) Yelland, 69, of Moorcroft, WY passed away from pancreatic cancer on Sunday, March 16, 2025.  Kitty was born in Upland, California to Littie Jane Burrows and Vivian Franklin Goodwin Jr. She lived in Ontario, California before getting married in 1974 to Tom R. Mills. She and Tom had three children, Tom, Melanie, and Jeffrey. Jeffrey was born with a terminal illness, Hurler's Syndrome, and Kitty lovingly cared for him day and night. Tragically, her husband passed away suddenly in 1984 while they were living in El Paso, TX, followed by the death of their son Jeffrey at the age of 12 in 1997. After the death of her son, she moved her family to Pine Haven, WY, where she resided until her death. After living in Wyoming for a while she reconnected with her high school sweetheart, Ed Yelland, and they were married in a private ceremony on the 4th of July of 2002.  In 2011, Ed passed away suddenly from a heart attack.

Throughout the years Kitty did many amazing things. She received her teaching degree and Master of Education from Grand Canyon University. Kitty started teaching at Rozet Elementary School where she was beloved by students and teachers alike. Her students meant everything to her, and she strived to let them know that. In 2003 she received the prestigious Arch Coal Teacher Achievement Award and continued to love teaching until she retired in 2016. Gardening was one of her favorite hobbies, she would work tirelessly in her greenhouse lovingly tending to her plants. She played the keyboard and sang with the worship team at her church, where her close personal relationship with Jesus Christ was evident. Many people will be able to greet her in heaven due to her witness. God has been her strength throughout her trials and tribulations in life as she was constantly seeking and trusting him. She always saw the best in people and was a wonderful friend who encouraged all through her kindness.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Jane Goodwin; her son, Jeffrey Mills; daughter-in-law, Andrea Mills, and husbands, Tom Mills, and Ed Yelland.  She is survived by her son, Tom Mills of Moorcroft, WY; daughter, Melanie (Justin) Rash of Chino Hills, CA; sister, Suzie Stablein, of Gillette, WY; stepsons, Robbie Yelland of Luxemburg, WI, Jacob (Jessica) Yelland of Twentynine Palms, CA, William Yelland and 14 grandchildren. Services will be held at MTC (Moorcroft Town Center) in Moorcroft, WY on Wednesday, March 26th at 10:30 am. There will be a limited time allotted for stories or memories to share. Interment will follow at 2:30 pm at Black Hills National Cemetery, 20901 Pleasant Valley Dr., Sturgis SD.  In 2 U Flowers & Gifts in Moorcroft is in charge of local flower deliveries, 307-756-3335.
