Kent Charles Geffre, 56 of Lead SD, went to the big hunting ground in the sky on Wednesday, January 17, 2018.
Kent was born February 28, 1961 to Charles and Theresa (Martin) Geffre in Deadwood, SD. He attended Lead Elementary and Lead High School. After he finished high school he pursued logging in the Black Hills. He then went to work at Homestake Gold Mine where he caused everyone grief for 22 years. After a successful career at Homestake, he and his brother Mark started a logging company, coincidently called, Geffre Enterprise.
Kent was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. He loved competition shooting, winning numerous trophies and awards. Kent was an avid hunter; hunting was his passion. It is where he got out into the wilderness and bonded with nature and his best friends. It was not only his passion, it was an adventure. He also loved the sport of snowmobiling which was evident by his generosity and desire for teaching everyone that surrounded him.
Kent was always good for a good laugh and was always telling jokes. Amongst his many qualities was his amazing engineering ability. He could fix and build anything and would offer to help anyone who asked.
Kent is survived by his loving partner, Lucy Heisinger from Lead; his daughter, Sarah Bonser and her husband, Derek and his grandson, Easton from Redwing, MN; brother, Mark (Judy) Geffre; sister, Chris (Tom) Hoffman; nieces and nephews, Nick, Katy, and Courtney. He is also survived by aunt Judy Woodworth, uncle Raymond Martin and numerous other family members of Lucy. He was preceded in death by his parents; Uncle Phillip and Uncle Jimmy and other uncles and aunts.
A Celebration of Life will be at 12:00 PM on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at the VFW in Deadwood.
