Obituary
Kenneth "John" Swanson, 89, of Spearfish and formerly of Newell, SD passed away on Monday, June 23, 2014 at the Belle Fourche Healthcare Center.
He was born on December 18, 1924 to Ole and Ida Sofia (Hogstrom) Swanson in Rapid City, SD. He entered the US Army in 1950 and was Honorably Discharged in 1951. He was a farmer and an electrical contractor retiring from Swanson Construction in 1990, which he owned and partnered with his nephew for 12 years.
He is survived by two sisters-in-law, Betty (Mrs. Oley) Swanson of Plattsburg, MO and Betty (Mrs. Charles) Swanson of Frement, CA, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Glenden, Oley and Charles, and two sisters, Marguriete Falk and Norma Elvestrom.
Visitation will be from 11:00-1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 27, 2014 at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish. Burial will follow at 2:00 P.M. at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis. Military Honors will be provided by the Spearfish Honor Guard.
