Kenneth (KC) Phillips, Jr. spent Christmas with Jesus this year. He passed away Christmas Eve, December 24, 2024, at home, with his wife by his side. He was 78.
KC was born in Huron, SD to Kenneth Sr. and Florence (Speirs) October 8, 1946. The family farmed in the Miller area until moving to Lead. Kenny then went to work for Homestake. KC joined the army in April of 1966 and was honorably discharged in 1968. KC then worked for Homestake until the family started Ken's Camper Sales. KC and Suzanne were married in 1978, and their son, Shane was born in July 1980. KC retired in September 2014 and the couple moved to Spearfish.
KC was a past president of the Black Hills Rod and Gun Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and his grandchildren. He also enjoyed helping with the Winter Fest, Soup Supper with Rod and Gun, and the 4th of July Breakfast. He enjoyed taking bus trips with 1st National Bank and eventually enjoyed his trip to Australia and New Zealand. He won the Raw Oyster eating contest.
Missing him is his wife Suzanne, his son Shane and his wife Brittney, his grandchildren Sawyer, Bridger, and Sloan, his brother Jack (Judy), and his sister Edith (Lawrence). Greeting KC are his parents Kenneth and Florence, brothers, Gary, Charles, and David.
A celebration of life will be held at 10:00AM Friday January 17, 2025 at the Spearfish United Methodist Church. Burial will follow the service at the Black Hills National Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the care of Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapels and Isburg Crematory of Spearfish.
