Kendall E. Hansen, 86 of Spearfish passed away peacefully at home on October 3, 2020. Ken was born on February 21, 1934 at Motley, MN where he lived on a farm for 12 years. He was the only son of Axel E. Hansen and Myrtle Jane (Sanders) Hansen. In 1946 the family moved to Wessington Springs, SD where Ken graduated from high school and Wessington Springs Jr. College. On December 18, 1953 Ken married the love of his life Olive Ann (Horsley) Hansen. Ken served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956 and was honorable discharged.

Ken spent the next 50 years self-employed printing both newspapers and commercial products. Ken loved to travel and spent many years as a campground host in the Black Hills, Utah, Wyoming and South Carolina.

Ken and Olive loved helping the community by volunteering their services to Spearfish Food Pantry and the Senior Citizen Center. Ken was a charter member of Mt. View Baptist Church for 46 years. He was also an original member of the Spearfish Veterans Monument and active member of American Legion Post 164.

Ken finally officially retired at age 82 after delivering the Prospector newspaper on a South Dakota-Wyoming route.

Ken is survived by his wife of 66 years, Olive, sons, Mark (Sandy Kellogg) Hansen and Greg (Lisa Paredez) Hansen, daughter, Susan (Pat) Kellogg, seven grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents, infant son, Eugene and two granddaughters, Nicole and Megan Hansen.

Visitation will be from 4:00pm-6:00pm, Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish. Funeral services will be at Mt. View Baptist Church in Spearfish on Wednesday October 7, 2020 at 10am with burial to follow at Black Hills National Cemetery.

The family requests that any donations in Ken's name be made to Hospice of Spearfish or Spearfish Veterans Monument.
