Kay Lynn Waldrop 63, passed away October 22, 2014 of Pulmonary Vibrocious in Pine Haven Wyoming.
She was born November 8, 1950, to Harold and Natalie Lass in Huron, SD. She graduated high school in 1969 from Wessington Springs, SD. She went on to nursing school in Minot, ND receiving her nursing degree. She moved to Gillette in 1973, to be with her family and helped run the Stockmans Café, where she met Sid Waldrop. Sid then married the love of his life April 11, 1974. In April they celebrated 40 years of marriage. With that marriage they had two children, Kassie Waldrop and John "Wally" Waldrop. They then settled in Glendive, MT where she worked at the Glendive Hospital as an OB nurse and intensive care nurse. In 1986, they moved back to Gillette where she was an OB nurse for over 20 years, retiring in 2008. She made an impact on many people's lives as a nurse. She was a great care giver and friend to all she came in contact with. In 1997, Sid and Kay purchased the Haven Bar and Grill in Pine Haven. While in Pine Haven they built and established the Empire Guest House and Campground, the Empire subdivision, building homes with Marshall and Pam Davis, forming KDK and owning the Cozy Motel in Moorcroft. Kay was a loving mother and grandmother and tried hard at everything she pursued. She enjoyed her time most spent with her grandchildren. On her free time she would play BINGO with friends and travel to Deadwood to gamble. She spent her last year enjoying her retirement with her husband living in their RV in Shady Grove, Oregon next to the River.
Kay is survived by her loving husband, Sid Waldrop; daughter, Kassie Waldrop and her husband Jimmy Aasen; son, John "Wally" Waldrop and his wife Trisha; and eight loving grandchildren, Johnathon, Jaxon, Jerzi, Channning, Hayden, Reide, Jentri and Briar. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Natalie Lass.
In accordance with Kay's wishes, no services will be held.
