Kathleen Stroud-Elliott, 62, of Lead, SD passed peacefully in her home Monday March 2nd, 2015 due to long-standing illness.
Kathy was born in Sacramento, California on July 16th 1952 to Sheila and George Reider. Kathy was fifth of ten siblings, Kevin Reider, Gerre Arnold, Bob Reider, Rich Reider, Colleen Rosen, Christine Grows, Maureen O'Dea, George Reider and Eileen Reider, all of California and Alaska.
Kathy and her life-long love, Richard Elliott grew up doors apart in Sacramento before moving to Nebraska, Colorado and South Dakota. She worked many years alongside Richard and son Steve on road construction before settling in Lead, South Dakota in 1993. Kathy enjoyed working at The Celebrity and Mint Hotels in Deadwood for several years.
Kathy was a very social woman who enjoyed sitting amongst the tourists and visiting about travels and life stories. Anyone who came in contact with Kathy walked away feeling more like a friend than an acquaintance. She loved to laugh and had an infectious laugh and love of life.
Kathy's joy in life was family. She has a daughter, Tara Stroud of Oakland, CA and son, Steve (Kasey) Stroud of Upton, WY; and one of Kathy's great loves in life were her grandchildren, Michael Stroud (21) and AbbyGail Stroud (5) of Upton, Wyoming. It never mattered where, when and how we all came together, if given the chance she loved playing with Abby and sharing life lessons with Michael. She was also blessed with a great-grandson in 2012, Carson Stroud of Alliance, NE; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
A Memorial Remembrance Reception will be held Saturday March 7th 2015 at the All-In-One Events Center at 501 West Main Street in Lead, South Dakota at 3pm for friends and family.
