Katherine Johansen, 98, of Spearfish, passed away on Sunday, March 6th 2016 at Avera Oahe Manor in Gettysburg.

Katherine "Kate" Stedillie, was born in Aladdin, Wyoming on April 18th 1917, she married George E. Johansen April 6th 1940.

Kate spent most of her life in Aladdin Wyoming & Belle Fourche SD. She then moved to Spearfish SD in 1963. Kate loved sewing and making quilts, garage sales and the look and sound of birds. You could always count on fresh homemade cookies if you came to visit.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Ann Gentele of Tacoma WA; ten grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren & 11 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph & Maria Stedilli; her husband, George in 1995 as well as three sisters and four brothers.

Visitation will be from 9:30-10:30 AM at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish on Thursday, March 10, 2016. Graveside services will follow at 11:00 AM at Black Hills National Cemetery.
