Karen Wiessner, 63, of Spearfish, passed away on February 11 , 2026.
Karen was born on January 25, 1963 to Carl and Thelma (Tveidt) Wiessner. She loved music from a very young age and her Dad would put the record's onto cassettes for her to listen and sing to. She loved hymns and could tell you what the number was of a song or give her a number and she could tell you it's name. #1 Tell Me the Story of Jesus was her favorite hymn.
She was a client of and lived within the Northern Hills Training Center for many years, working at the hotels and packaging items at the Training Center. She spent the last 11 years living with her sister, Carol and her husband, Mike. She traveled to Niagara Falls, Fingers Lakes, Gettysburg, Lancaster, PA, Liberty Bell, Nascar races, hockey games, baseball games, a fall cruise from Boston to Canada, numerous places in New York City, numerous country western concerts. She loved flying, asking how many feet we were flying. She had an astonishing memory for numbers and middle names and phone numbers. She loved her family.
Burial will take place at Black Hills National Cemetery, with a memorial service to be held this summer.
She is survived by her sister and husband Mike and Carol (Wiessner)Tucker; nephew Cameron (Lisa) Fowlkes; nieces Tiffany (Todd) Hummel and Erika Tucker; numerous great- nieces and nephews; aunt Clara Christensen (almost 101 yrs old); numerous cousins, some of who have helped care for her these last couple months, Donna Halstead, Cheryl Voorhis and Alice Spargur and friends Sharon Kirkman, Deb Sanford. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Thelma Wiessner.
