Kamryn Louise Schumacher was just three months shy of her third birthday when she gained her angel wings at home in the arms of her Mama, Daddy and brother, Devon on May 2, 2017 after an unbelievably courageous battle with brain cancer. Kamryn's final days were spent surrounded by her loving family watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and snuggling her Mama, Daddy and other close family members.
Kamryn was born in Spearfish, SD on July 14, 2014 to Dustin and Kristy Schumacher of Lead, SD. Kamryn was known as Miss Sassy Pants and Bossy Boss since before she could talk. Some of our fondest memories of her are when she learned to cross her arms and let out a sigh in protest, when she would chase our large dog, Duke, nonstop around the house with her toy shopping cart, and when she would lead the family on a march around and around her Nana and Papa's house. Kamryn had a love for bubbles, playing the harmonica with her Daddy, getting her fingernails painted by her Mama, getting to 'dip' and 'twirl' as she danced with her Daddy and of course watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse on her pink little iPad.
Kamryn was just 22 months old when she was diagnosed with a brain tumor. In her eleven month long battle she displayed more bravery and optimism than any grown man could muster. Kamryn leaves a lasting legacy of unconditional love and courage. Despite her discomfort and weakness Kamryn would always bless everyone she came in contact with by blowing them a kiss and showing her love with her own special I love you sign. Kamryn's imperfections were her most perfect attributes, showing us that the terrible two's aren't terrible at all. Each indication of her being a normal two year old was welcomed by her parents as something to be treasured. We were so grateful for the moments of her finding her independence but also those moments when it was only her big brother that could convince her to try something new or even just settle down for a nap.
Kamryn was such a bright little girl; absolutely brilliant. She was able to count to fifteen before her first birthday, and knew the words and the gestures to Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Pat-a-Cake, 5 Little Pumpkins, Little Bunny Foo Foo, 1-2 Buckle my Shoe and her all time favorite: Itsy Bitsy Spider. In Kamryn's short life she has inspired so many people to love beyond measure and to truly appreciate the little things in life. She has taught us that laughter is by far the best medicine and it's most important to pray hardest when it's hardest to pray.
Kamryn will be watching over her parents, Dustin and Kristy Schumacher; brother, Devon Schumacher, all of Lead, and sister Laura Franzluebbers of Omaha, NE. Kamryn will be greatly missed by her Great-Grandma and Grandpa Metzger of Lead, her Great-Grandma and Grandpa Schumacher of Piedmont, SD, her Nana and Papa LeeAnn and Wayne Paananen of Lead, SD, Grandma and Grandpa Rosenbaum of Lincoln, NE, Grandma and Grandpa Wilson of Fitzgerald, GA, her Grandpa Donnie Schumacher of Golden, CO; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, and a nephew.
Kamryn's services will be held in Gym 1 of the Lead-Deadwood High School at 2:00 Saturday afternoon, May 6, 2017. Visitation will take place from 12-2:00 prior to the service. The family welcomes anyone and everyone that has been touched by Kamryn's journey to attend her services. Her parents encourage guests to wear their Kamryn shirts, shirts of Kamryn's color (aqua) or any type of Mickey Mouse shirts. Condolences may be sent to The Schumacher Family PO Box 682 Lead, SD 57754. A memorial has been established at the Northern Hills Federal Credit Union under "The Kamryn Fund".
