On August 9, 2016 we said goodbye to a beloved mother, sister, and daughter, Kaela Elizabeth Pridie, 28, of Spearfish, SD.
Kaela was born on May 23, 1988 in Yankton SD. At the age of 6, her family moved to Spearfish, where she attended grades K-12. Kaela loved the Black Hills and had a deep connection with family. She stayed in Spearfish to raise her two children, Lilliana (10) and Finn (2). Kaela was a single mother who fiercely loved her children. She taught them to be strong, independent, committed to family, and above all to love and protect each other.
Kaela suffered from a bad heart due to a birth defect that had gone undetected. In July she had her heart valve replaced but ultimately suffered complications from the surgery. Her fast and unexpected loss has been devastating to her children and family.
She is survived by her children Lilliana and Finn; her parents: Danny and Mary Pridie; her siblings: Jacob (Jessie) Pridie, Holly (Dan) Bryne, Daniel (Megan) Pridie, Jessica (William) Babb, Michelle Pridie Bock, Jennifer (Drew) Allen, Keri (John) Bestland; her 12 nieces and nephews; and her grandmother: Margie Hinrichsen. She is preceded in death by her grandparents: Lawrence and Gean Pridie, and Bill Hinrichsen.
Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 PM, Wednesday, August 17 at the Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel, Spearfish with Prayer Service to follow at 7:00 PM. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, August 18, 2016 at the Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution for Kaela's children.
