June Louise Tracy, 65 of Lead, SD passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2019, at the Lead-Deadwood Regional Hospital in Deadwood, SD.
June was born June 4, 1954 to William and Rosella (Marsh) Covell in Watertown, SD at Bartron Hospital. June was six out of eleven children. Later in 1954 the Covell family moved to Lead, where June attended school and graduated from Lead High School in 1973. In 1972, while working for Latchstring she met the love of her life Bruce Tracy. The two were married on June 17, 1977, together they enjoyed 42 blissful years of marriage. June's hobbies included being an avid bowler, cooking and canning and she will always be remembered for her pickled green tomatoes. Her green tomatoes were so sought after, that they could be used for currency. June and Bruce also enjoyed hunting, camping and fishing at various locations throughout the Black Hills. June's life was always filled with many loving friends and family members. June always had a wild side to her; she was never shy to say what she thought. In 2017 she was diagnosed with cancer, after being diagnosed she adopted the motto "She confidently trusts the Lord to take care of her". On August 10, 2019 she lost her courageous fight to the terrible disease.
June was preceded into the afterlife by both of her parents, brother, Lowell and baby sister, Marline.
She is survived by and through her devoted husband, Bruce Tracy, sisters; Gertrude (Keven) Stafne of Hettinger, ND, Kim (Al) Sjovall of Nisland, SD, Gail (Ron) Hovorka of Tabor, SD, brothers; William Covell Jr. of Sturgis, SD, Harold Covell of Spearfish, Robert (Heidi) Covell of Whitewood, SD, Richard (Jett) Covell of Texas and Scott (Pam) Covell of Virginia and many nieces, nephews and various great nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30om on Monday, August 26, 2019, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Lead, SD. Inurnment will take place at a later date.
Arrangements are under the care of the Lead-Deadwood Memorial Chapel in Lead.
