June J. Proctor, 92, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2012 at Belle Fourche Healthcare Center which had been home for her since January 2009. She has stepped through heaven's door to be with her husband, Dr. Thomas H. Proctor who passed away September 5, 2004.
June was born June 16, 1919 in Lead, SD to Victor and Ada Enid (McNall) Stolberg. She attended Business College in Oklahoma returning to South Dakota to work for Gutzon Borglum during the carving of Mount Rushmore as well as working at the Lawrence County Courthouse. She married T.H. Proctor on September 5, 1943 and was a wonderful wife and mother as well as serving as secretary and business manager of Dr. Proctor's Optometry practices in Deadwood and Spearfish. She loved working with "Doc" as well as being a consummate homemaker, wife and mother. She and the family spent countless hours on family outings, picnics, camping, music events and travel. She and "Doc" especially enjoyed going to dances at community events and are probably dancing right now.
Survivors include her brother, Lee (Dorothy) Stolberg, Denver, CO; children, Jill Quillian, Fond du Lac, WI; Jack Proctor, Occidental, CA; Joy (Harvey) Krautschun, Spearfish, SD; Jerry (Chana) Proctor, Sierra Vista, AZ; six grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers; Lowell and Elton.
