Obituary

Judith Ann (Homan) Wagner, 82, Sundance, WY went to be with the Lord on March 27th, 2026, at the Rapid City hospital following a long battle with dementia.

Judith, known by everyone as Judy, was born in Chicago, Illinois on April 10th, 1943, to William and Helen (Upton) Homan. She lived in Chicago for two years before the family moved to Continental, Ohio to stay at her Grandparents home while her folks built their own home down the road. She graduated from Continental High School in 1961.

She met David O. Wagner while attending Continental elementary school. They have known each other since the fourth grade, when Judy decided to try and steal Dave’s coonskin hat at recess. They were married in 1964 following Dave’s discharge from the Navy in 1963. To this union were born two children, Christine A in 1972 and Gregory D in 1977. Judy worked at All Star Products for a brief period prior to her marriage. Following the birth of Christine, she remained a stay-at-home mom.

In 1989, the family then moved to Sundance, Wyoming where they built their second home south of Sundance. She remained there until she was moved to the assisted living facility in Rapid City, SD in 2019.

Judy was a lifelong devout Methodist and was a member of the St Paul’s United Methodist Church in Defiance, Ohio and following the move to Sundance, was a member of the Sundance United Methodist Church. She was always involved with all her children’s activities in school, scouting, and church. She also worked at the Bear Lodge Motel in Sundance where she stayed for 10 years before she retired. Judy loved her family, plants and outdoor flowers, sewing and crafting. Her favorite holiday was Christmas.

Judy is survived by her husband, David, Sundance, WY; sister, Cindy Whittecar of Ft Wayne, IN; daughter Christine (Lonnie) Galloway, Sundance, WY; son Gregory (Brandi) Wagner, Pine Haven, WY; grandsons, Cody (McKenzie) Galloway, Beulah, WY; Levi (Sophia) Galloway, Sundance, WY; and Derrick Wagner, Gillette, WY. She is also survived by four nieces, four nephews and their children, four great-granddaughters, a great-granddaughter due in August 2026 and a great-grandson due in May 2026.

The family has requested no funeral services, but will be honored with your presence at an Open House scheduled for Friday, April 3rd at the Crook County Courthouse Community Room from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Judy will be interred at the Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis, SD.
