Joyce E. Loree, 82, of Spearfish, SD passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at her home with her husband, Jack by her side.
Joyce Elaine Loree was born on April 10, 1934, in Muskegon Heights, MI a daughter of William and Hazel (Hocking) Tueling. She grew up in Muskegon where she attended school and graduated. Following graduation, Joyce went to work for Consumers Power, as their executive secretary until her retirement.
While living in Muskegon, Joyce met Jack B. Loree, and the two were married on November 7, 1953. To this union Renee and Ron were born. Joyce and Jack made their home in Muskegon until 2006, when they moved to Spearfish, SD where Joyce and Jack took care of Jack's mother, Helen Mathwig following the death of Helen's husband Willard Mathwig.
Joyce and Jack have been avid sports fans of BHSU Yellow Jackets and Spearfish Spartans, where Joyce's nickname was "Grandma Joyce". One of Joyce's highlights was being chosen as "Fans of the Year" for two years by the Spearfish Spartans! She volunteered at the Little Jackets Learning Center at BHSU and enjoyed rocking the babies. Joyce and Jack have been faithful members of Grace Fellowship Church in Spearfish.
Joyce is survived by her husband, Jack Loree, Spearfish, SD; her daughter, Renee Gardner of Centennial, CO; her son, Ron (Kris) Loree of Muskegon, MI; four grandchildren, Deandra, Derek, Demetri and Delaina; and nieces Susan Heintzleman and Cindy Nummerdor and nephew Craig Harpster and respective families.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, February 11, 2017, at Grace Fellowship Church in Spearfish, SD. Inurnment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.
