Josephine Frances (Balster) Neuheisel, age 84, of Belle Fourche, South Dakota died peacefully with her family present, Sunday, May 1, 2011 at Spearfish Regional Hospital, Spearfish, SD after a brief illness.

Visitation will be at 6:00 PM, Tuesday, May 3, 2011, at Saint Joseph's Catholic Church, 844 North Fifth Street, Spearfish, SD, with vigil services to follow at 7:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at Saint Joseph's Catholic Church. Interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery, Spearfish, SD.

Josephine was born May 30, 1926 to Joseph Charles Balster and Engeline (Lena) Catherine (Schoo) Balster, at Iona, Minnesota. Josephine married William Neuheisel on February 11, 1953 at Iona, Minnesota. She loved entertaining her family and friends by singing and playing the piano.

Josephine is survived by her children, Jan Goodsell (Carrol) of Spearfish, SD; Julie Rosen of Duluth, MN; Donna (Matthew) Schurger of Windsor, CO; Joseph Neuheisel of Zapp, ND; John Neuheisel of Casselton, ND; Mary Geiger of Lusk, WY and Alice (Steve) Meier of Bismarck, ND; 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Josephine was preceded in death by her parents, seven brothers and three sisters.
