Joe Lien, 78, Spearfish, SD (formerly of Aberdeen, SD) passed away suddenly on Friday, November 20, 2015 in Fountain Hills, AZ.


Joe was born on March 30th, 1937 in Veblen, SD to Emil and Josephine (Fernbaugh) Lien. He married Edith Austin on September 5th, 1960.

Joe is survived by his wife, Edith; their five sons, Jason (Mary); Todd (Barb); Spencer (Lynne); Trevor (Hayley); Martin (Amy); grandchildren Joseph, Brian, Travis, Austin, Jacob, Sydney, Isaac and brothers, Robert (Noreen) and Tom (Judy).

Joe was in the construction business his entire life. His first half was spent building roads for other people and the last half was spent building and remodeling homes for himself and Edie. Joe loved cooking and entertaining with family and friends, as anyone who sat around the big table will remember.

Memorial service will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 28, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Spearfish. Burial will follow at a later date in Aberdeen, SD.
