Joseph "Joe" Caropino, 94 of Lead passed away peacefully Saturday, May 18, 2019 in the care of an extremely capable and loving staff at Ft. Meade VA Medical Center Hospice.

Joe was born October 6, 1924, he always said he was a 1924 model. His sense of humor and his humbled gratitude will be missed by all who knew him. Joe has gone to meet his bride, Lillian, who preceded him in death.

He is survived by his two daughters, Cathie (Jim) Aberle and Mary Caropino, four granddaughters, Laurie (James) Rogers, Missy (Cas) Schneller, Natalie (Michael) Tognetti, Edie (Adam) Gerk and 14 great-grandchildren.

Burial will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery Lead with a memorial service at the gravesite this summer.

Memorials will be given to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Arrangements are under the care of the Lead-Deadwood Memorial Chapel of Lead.
