John C. Wolf, 87 of Hulett, Wyoming died Saturday, February 21, 2015 at the Crook County Memorial Nursing home in Sundance, WY.
John Calvin Wolf was born on the family ranch north of Hulett, Wyoming on December 12, 1927 to Anselm and Elsie (Leeson) Wolf. Except for his last two months, he resided there his entire life.
John attended the Gray school through the 8th grade, his usual mode of transportation to school was a horse. Elsie moved her family into Hulett when John and his brothers entered high school. He graduated in 1947.
In 1960, he married Nadine Sward in Bridgeport, Nebraska. They lived on the ranch on what is called the Moore Place on New Haven Road. Jennifer was born in 1962 and Tom in 1965 while living there. In 1971, John and Nadine built a house close to his mother's home off Highway 112. He treasured his children and grandchildren, and he taught them about the ranching way of life.
John was a lifelong rancher and knew each cow and her calf, and he loved his horses. He enjoyed many years of guiding hunters and watching wildlife on the ranch. For several years he was a member of the Half Fast Roping club, as well as the Hulett Lions Club. He served on the Hulett CO-OP, Farm Home Administration, and the Devils Tower Historical Society boards. Besides ranching, he drove a school bus from 1965-2000. He liked the kids and never had a bad word to say about any of them. He also did some construction on the highway over the Bearlodge.
John is survived by his wife, Nadine; daughter, Jennifer (Don) Evans of Wheatland, WY; son, Tom (Donna) Wolf of Hulett, WY; four grandsons, Joshua Evans of Wheatland, WY, Christopher (Jessica) Evans of Summerfield, NC, Calvin (Kristin) Wolf of Hulett, WY, and Shane Wolf of Hulett, WY; great-grandson Kohen Evans of Summerfield, NC; and step-great-granddaughter Mikayla of Summerfield, NC; brother, Bernard (Buzz) Wolf, Belle Fourche, SD; step-brother Robert (Naomi) Terhune; and his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Anselm (Jr.) and Leland, who was shot down in Korea in 1951; step-brother, Albert (Tiny) Terhune; and step-sister Barbara Terhune Keller.
Funeral services will be at 1:00pm, Saturday, February 28, 2015 at the Greater Hulett Community Center in Hulett. Burial will take place at the Hulett Cemetery.
