John Anthony Robb died December 12, 2012 at Spearfish Regional Hospital in South Dakota. John was born January 14, 1933 in Toledo, Ohio to Francis and Marguerite (Gerard) Robb. He was the youngest of 3 boys. They moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana while John was in high school and he graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1951. John joined the US Navy that same year and served in the Navy for 42 years retiring in 1993 as a Chief Personnel man.
John married Geraldine Getty September 4, 1954. They lived in California for one year then John was stationed in Japan and Gerry moved back to Ft. Wayne. After he came home he worked in transportation the rest of his life. He worked as a Traffic Manager for different companies. He owned his own traffic brokerage business until retirement.
They lived in various locales until John and Gerry settled in Aladdin, Wyoming so he could hunt and camp and watch his grandchildren grow up. He enjoyed his grandchildren; Tristann, Katie, Mathew, Brendan and Patrick and went to many of their church and school programs, concerts, and ball games. He was thrilled to see his 2 great-grand children Camden and Victoria who came to visit at Thanksgiving this year. He was proud of his Scot-Irish heritage and he enjoyed genealogy, finding his ancestors in North America and Europe.
John was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Spearfish and was a Fourth Degree Knight's of Columbus. He had been a commander of Spearfish VFW Post 5860. Blessed to have shared in his life is his wife, Geraldine, son, John Jr. (Connie) of Fort Wayne, daughters, Jeanne (George) Whalen of Aladdin, and Sara (Michael) Burns of Arvada, Colorado, and brother Dr. Robert (Phyllis) Robb of Ft.Wayne. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Rev. Paul Robb, SJ.
John never met a stranger and enjoyed talking to everyone. He always had a story to tell and loved his family with all his heart.
Visitation will be from 4-6P.M., Monday, December 17, at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, December 18 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Spearfish with a Rosary service at 9:30 A.M. prior to the Mass. Burial with full military honors by the Spearfish Honor Guard will be at Black Hills National Cemetery.
