John R. Powell, 48, of Sundance, WY passed away on Friday, April 20, 2012.

John married Deborah Jo Cloud on September 20, 1997.

Left behind to cherish his memory; his beloved wife and best friend Deb of Sundance; his parents Galena and Mildred Unruh of Colorado City, CO and John and Sue Powell of Dodge City, Kansas; children, Lisa Corley of Sundance, David Allen Burt of Idaho Springs, CO, Michael Lee (Steffani Williams) Burt, of Mt. Belvieu, TX; his grandchildren Caitlin and Brooklyn Corley, Daniel and Emily Quinn, Brian and David Burt, Paxton and Fallon Burt; his sisters; Janette( Rickey) Bennett of Virginia Beach, VA, Lorrie (Ken) Gottschalk of Aurora, CO, LaFonda (Lyle) Miller, Dana (Garrett) Bryning both of Denver, CO, Staci Unruh of Wheat Ridge, CO, and Marti Krisle of Dodge City, KS; his brothers, Mike (Tina) Adcock of Gunnison, CO, Wayne (Shelli) Carter of Jetmore, KS, Mike Powell of Aurora, CO and Richard (Deborah) Powell of Missouri City, KS; and numerous nieces and nephews and a multitude of friends.

John's generous and loving heart endeared him to everyone he met. He considered his friends a part of his family and was well-known for his bear hugs and his powerful thunderous laugh.

Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 P.M. on Thursday, April 26, 2012 at Fidler-Roberts & Isburg Funeral Chapel in Sundance. Funeral services will be at 10:00 on Friday, April 27, 2012 at the funeral chapel. All friends and family are welcomed to attend a luncheon at the community room in the Courthouse basement following the services.
