John G Dahlgren, 70, of Spearfish, died on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at the David M. Dorsett Healthcare Center.

John was born on December 4, 1943 in Strandburg, SD to Julius and Marie (Peterson) Dahlgren. He was the fifth of six children. He attended school in Strandburg and graduated in 1961. He later met and married Judy Holtquist of Milbank on September 4, 1964 in Manhattan, KS. During their marriage they lived on Kansas, St. Cloud, MN and Ft. Collins, CO. John worked as a union Ceramic Tile Setter out of Denver, CO and Cheyenne, WY. When he retired in 2006, they moved to Spearfish.

John and Judy had two children, John Shannon Dahlgren of Spearfish and JoDee Lynn Dahlgren of Loveland, CO.

John is survived by his wife of 50 years, Judy; his son; his daughter; grandsons, Ryan and Grant McCloughan, who were the joys of his life; brother Loren (Sharon) Dahlgren of Strandburg; sisters, Joyce (Richard) Schultz of Ortonville, MN and Audrey Ehnes of Littleton; sister-in-law, Cheryl (Tony) Yankowski of Ft. Collins; brother-in-law, Richard Holtquist of Chicago, IL and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Ted Dahlgren, sister Karen Konstant, nephew Mark Schultz, niece, Jennifer Yankowski and brother-in-law, Alan Holtquist.

John was baptized and confirmed at Tabor Lutheran Church in Strandbury where a memorial service will be held later this summer. Cremation has taken place.
