Obituary

John Arthur Bigney, 52, answered his last alarm 04:00 on October, 26, 2015, he was a patient at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

John served both communities of Lead and Deadwood as volunteer firefighter for the past 34 years.

John served as a firefighter Captain and received the Charlie Hill Firefighter of the Year Award for his dedication to the fire service.
John was best known for his hours of dedication with any and all Fire Prevention projects, but mostly his work with the communities' youth in the schools.

John is survived by close friend and companion, Carmen Martinez, Deadwood; and sister, Margret Brown, Beatrice, NB. He was preceded in death by his parents, Julius and Beatrice (Flow) Bigney.

Memorial Services for John will be held at the Lead-Deadwood Memorial Chapel in Lead at 10:00 AM Wednesday, November 4, 2015. The inurnment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery near Lead followed by a fellowship gathering at the Deadwood Fire Station, 737 Main Street.
