Joanne Pauline Wickwire, 90, of Spearfish, SD passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, of natural causes.

She was born on September 1, 1935, to Walter and Kathryn (Williams) Gilday in Lake Luzerne, NY. She grew up and attended school in Cherry Valley, NY where her brother, Fred, joined the family on the day before her 4th birthday.

On April 3, 1955, Joanne married Warren Wickwire. They resided in Fort Plain, NY for many years where they raised two sons, Randy and Larry.

In 1978 they moved to Douglas, WY where Warren had transferred with Exxon to work in a uranium mine, and later to Gillette, WY, working at Caballo Coal Mine.

After retirement, they spent many years wintering in Arizona and traveling.

Joanne was predeceased by her husband, Warren, and her brother, Fred. She is survived by sons Randy (Carla) of Globe, AZ; Larry (Karla) of Aladdin, WY; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a special sister-in-law, Beverly McCaffery.

No services will be held at this time.

Memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children Hospital.
