Truda "Joan" Brand, 77 of Lead, passed away on September 12, 2016, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

Joan worked at F.L. Thorpe jewelry store for many years and then was a wonderful stay at home grandma for her grandchildren, Joshua and Nicole. Joan enjoyed her summer home at the Missouri River and was a big Broncos fan.

She is survived by her three children, Sheila (Bob) Meddings, Donna (Chuck) Quenzer and Neil (Leenetta Farewell) all of Lead; grandchildren, Nicole (Jake) Coons, Joshua (Melissa) Quenzer, Michael Meddings and Chris Blom and great-grandchildren, Jacob Coons and Max Quenzer. Joan is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Brand; her parents, Marge and James Hoy and her sister, Shirley.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, September 16, 2016 at the Lead-Deadwood Memorial Chapel with interment to follow at Black Hills National Cemetery at Sturgis, South Dakota.
