Obituary
Jimmy A. Folkner, Sr. 63, Upton, WY, died Thursday, June 26, 2014 at Campbell County Memorial Hospital in Gillette.
He was born September 21, 1948 in Southern California to Truman and Zelma (Jauregui) Folkner. He was raised in the Carlsbad, CA area, where he graduated from high school. He was the star football player there.
After high school, he joined the military, serving first in the US Marines and a later tour of duty in the US Army.
After the military, he moved to North Dakota, where he owned a business, he was "#1 in the #2 business." He then moved to Upton in 1989 to be a cowboy. During this time, he met and married Cheryl Erland on May 25, 1990.
He is survived by his wife Cheryl, Upton; children, Jimmy Folkner, Jr, Grand Forks, ND, Rachel Folkner, Sioux Falls, SD, Melanie Jones, Gillette, Casey Houston, Upton; four grandchildren, AJ, Kay, Tariq, Kylie; sister, Margie Folkner, San Diego, CA and brother, Michael Folkner, Portland, OR. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
A Celebration of Life for Jimmy will be at 3:00 PM, Thursday, July 3, 2014 at the Upton Community Center.
Cremation was under the care of Fidler-Isburg & Roberts Funeral Chapel of Sundance.
