Obituary

Jerry Ryther, 56 of Deadwood, passed away on September 27, 2019, in Watford City, ND.

Jerry was born on June 10, 1963, to Donald and Evelyn (Haka) Ryther in Sturgis, SD. Jerry went to various elementary and middle schools in South Dakota. He graduated from high school in Mountain View, WY in 1982. Right after high school he joined the United States Marines. He was stationed at Camp Lejeune, NC in the armory. He left the Marines after four years in 1986. He enrolled in South Dakota School of Mines &Technology in Rapid City and was also in the South Dakota National Guard for four years. He then decided to go to school for truck driving. He drove truck over the road for 16 years. He hauled mag-water for Z&S Dust Control up to the time of his death. Jerry was also a member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Lead.

Jerry is survived by his mother, Evelyn Ryther of Deadwood; brothers, John Ryther of Deadwood, Darrell Ryther of Pierre, and Wayne (Cheryl) Ryther of Gillette, Wy; sister, Lori (Ben) Peffer of Black Hawk, SD, and numerous aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, great-nephews and nieces, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his father, Donald; paternal grandparents, Felix and Avis Ryther; Maternal grandparents, Richard and Minnie Haka; aunts, Florence Mauch and Fern Ryther; uncles, Carl Ryther and William Ryther; and great niece, Evelyn Molnar.

A memorial has been established for Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Lead or Wounded Warriors Project.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, October 4, 2019, at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Lead, South Dakota. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at 11:30 AM at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, SD.
